so on one of my many college visits, I had a funny conversation in the dorm room with my host's roommate and her friend. we ended up deciding that the best way to raise a child was to make sure they were kinda funny-looking when they were little and then let them grow up to be gorgeous. boys can grow up chubby because they hit a growth spurt later, but it's harder for girls to do that effectively, so the best thing for little girls to do is wear weird insect T-shirts and "go play in the humidity, honey." that way they develop and learn to value intelligence and personality and kindness and such in their formative years, but still get to reap the benefits of being pretty when they're older. snippet of song lyric reminded me of that and susan's prolific journal-ing inspired me, so here you are, reading only slightly pointless prose.
